The MSE-156 is the flagship two-way point source model from EM Acoustics, a powerful fullrange loudspeaker intended for a wide variety of applications – both mobile and permanently installed – but primarily aimed at touring applications. The MSE-156 is the narrow dispersion variant of the identically sized MSE-159. EMS-215, EMS-118 and MSE-218 subwoofers can be added to extend system response where required.
- 60° x 40° constant coverage horn pattern
- Premium 15mm multi-laminate birch plywood enclosure
- Black or white textured paint finish
- Optional weather protection or RAL custom colours
- Tour-friendly rigging and mounting options
- Hex punched steel grille backed with acoustically transparent fabric
The MSE-156 is completely passive yet outperforms many bi-amplified or processed designs. The enclosure contains a 15” (381mm) neodymium LF drive unit, linked via the internal passive crossover network to a 3” (76mm) diaphragm, 1.4” (36mm) exit HF compression drive unit. The HF drive unit is coupled to a constant-directivity waveguide, which produces a 60°H x 40°V dispersion pattern, rotatable for maximum flexibility.
The robust enclosure is constructed from premium multi-laminate Birch plywood and is finished in impact resistant textured paint. Two NL4 connections are provided on the rear for input an enclosure link. The front of the loudspeaker is protected by a rigid steel grille backed with acoustically transparent foam. The primary rigging system utilises keyhole quick-release flying plates top and bottom, allowing attachment of hardware in seconds. The hardware is completed with a pair of steel bar handles, 35mm polemount socket and various additional threaded fixings provided in the enclosure. The enclosure is supplied in black or white as standard, however RAL colour matching and weather protection options are also available if required.
The MSE-156 requires a single amplifier channel, and should be used with professional power amplifiers capable of delivering 1000-1500W RMS into an 8-ohm load. For optimum results, the EM Acoustics DQ10 or DQ20 Advanced System Amplifiers, or the AQ-10 power amplifier in conjunction with the DSC48 system controller (for loudspeaker protection) should be used.
